Viktor & Rolf 2011

This time last year Viktor & Rolf put up a great , unique show that blew me away and made my expectations about this year's collection higher than ever. The result was not the one I've expected, nor the one I thought it would be , but in one way or another it came close to it.

The tone of the collection was very sober , rigid and most important tough: some pieces made me think of some kind of stylish, artsy armour worn by beautiful and red-faced warriors , ready to fight in high heels,  gigantic collars and crowning look-a-like shoulders and arms . In order to emphasis the medieval and ready-to-fight attitude the clothes spread , the collection was presented in black and white with flashed of blood red  , along with that the music had a huge effect on the entire show as it was carefully chosen and fit the presentation perfectly : especially  " battle for the sun"  sang by a woman [ sorry I couldn't find her name ] with a deep , vibrant voice.

All in all the shows was more about the details, the feelings and the vibe of the entire collection. About the dramatic effect of the combination : black - white -red  and about the message they hide behind the surface.

Thierry Mugler - Fall Winter 2011/2012

I've been waiting for so long for this collection mainly because Thierry Mugler always has amazing, unique shows.

The theme of this F/W 2011/12 collection was ''vampire'' which explained the wild, dark and ''bloody'' set of the show. The sheer tops, leather leggings royal blue and black tights, and the sheer embroidered jump suites, along with the hair and make up, mixed perfectly together creating a bit of a gothic vibe, while at the same time remaining very simple and elegant .

The show was a hit, and for me it is definitely in the top. I loved the attitude of the models and even though some of them almost fell off the gigantic shoes [which I adored by the way ] they all looked so confident and sexy. 

At last, I have to admit that even though I don't really like Lady Gaga , she surely rocked the show and made it more spectacular and more aggressive

HAUTE COUTURE 2011

Because I haven't got any proper time to write about every couture show [ as I initially wanted ] , I thought I would do a little collage with my favorite designs from the shows that I liked the most  [except Dior because I already wrote about it ] .

CHRISTIAN DIOR HAUTE COUTURE - 2011

Christian Dior found the inspiration for his latest collection in one of the most exquisite eras of haute couture, the 1940's and 50's, and even more specifically his inspiration draws from the creative world of René Gruau's fashion illustrations.
Galliano, took some of the key pieces of that era, and transposes them into the modern world: the pleated skirts, the corseted waists, the pencil-thin skirts alongside the fabulous 40's inspired hair style, putting together a classic, simple yet sophisticated look. Superficially looking through this collection, it's easy to think of it as 'nothing special', however, for the rest of us, starving for art and perfection, looking for beauty and ready to take in every inch of every work of art put forth on the catwalk, the details of Galliano's collection speak for themselves. For us, the seven layers of tulle used to create the right depth of dégradé'; the embroidery, carefully places on one side of the fabric in order to create a subtle shadow; the Ostrich feathers, creating subtle ink traces on the ball gowns; the pencil lines in sequins as well as the exquisite head pieces, make us skip a heartbeat. For us, true beauty is in the details and as such Christian Dior's latest haute couture collection is nothing less than the perfect embodiment of perfection.
