Like a paper bag
While I was looking through some of my favorite blogs and magazines online, I found this incredible article about a freshly graduated Dutch designer, Ilvy Jacobs, who takes a great interest in paper bags.
''Designing bags is her specialization and for her graduation collection She’s refering to the bag as a packing function. From thinking about packing and packaging, Ilvy started to investigate ways to create a longer duration through a form and/or material addition. Hereby the bags get more value for the user. The tactile aspects of the material and sustainability are very important in her work. ''

What do you think ? Would you wear a paper bag ?

THE POWDER ROOM
Zoe Cassavetes made for Miu Miu, the first short film from the series "The Miu Miu Women's Tales" which explore women rituals in the powder room.
In my point of view , the video is amazing: the colors are great , the models fit perfectly in the whole set, the place is carefully chosen: London's Claridge's Hotel , the music was breath-taking and besides the amazing dresses and bags , the shoes were the ones that made my heart skip a heartbeat.
and here is the video:

HAUTE COUTURE 2011
Because I haven't got any proper time to write about every couture show [ as I initially wanted ] , I thought I would do a little collage with my favorite designs from the shows that I liked the most [except Dior because I already wrote about it ] .
well this is for me ... what about you ?

CHRISTIAN DIOR HAUTE COUTURE - 2011
Christian Dior found the inspiration for his latest collection in one of the most
exquisite eras of haute couture, the 1940's and 50's, and even more specifically his
inspiration draws from the creative world of René Gruau's fashion illustrations.
Galliano, took some of the key pieces of that era, and transposes them into the modern world: the pleated skirts, the corseted waists, the pencil-thin skirts alongside the fabulous 40's inspired hair style, putting together a classic, simple yet sophisticated look. Superficially looking through this collection, it's easy to think of it as 'nothing special', however, for the rest of us, starving for art and perfection, looking for beauty and ready to take in every inch of every work of art put forth on the catwalk, the details of Galliano's collection speak for themselves. For us, the seven layers of tulle used to create the right depth of dégradé'; the embroidery, carefully places on one side of the fabric in order to create a subtle shadow; the Ostrich feathers, creating subtle ink traces on the ball gowns; the pencil lines in sequins as well as the exquisite head pieces, make us skip a heartbeat. For us, true beauty is in the details and as such Christian Dior's latest haute couture collection is nothing less than the perfect embodiment of perfection.

[I think this is the best piece of the entire collection ]

Karla Spetic SS2011 Collection
Karla Spetic is a Croatian/Sydney inspired designer, whom I have recently discovered and
already fallen in love with. Her Spring Summer 2011 collection is trully inspirational, as the
clothes have a fresh and young line with lively tones of pastel colors such as: beige, ivory,
taupe and of course the never-missing white. Besides that, another thing that makes her
collection unique and outstanding, is the "Australian outback pattern" print, which,
together with the rest of the pieces make the entire collection a ''piece-of-heaven-
everyone-should-dream-of ".
So.. what do you guys think ? Is this collection a '' piece-of-heaven-everyone-should-dream-of " or not ?

2011 LOOKBOOK [PART 2 ]
LANVIN S/S 2011
I'm a huge fan of Lanvin and his work and I absolutely adore this campaign. As for the clothes .. well the only words I can write are good one.
CALVIN KLEIN S/S 2011
Not a big fun of CK but I loved this two shots
BURBERRY S/S 2011
DONNA KARAN S/S 2011
At one point I was afraid that I might have to make this a 3 or 4 part post but, after some logical thinking I've decide to end it here at part 2. It was really hard for me to choose only 8 lookbooks, because I love all of the ones I've looked over. Anyway the last one that I want to show you it's the lookbook for Donna Karan. The first thing I loved about it was the fact that it was photographed by one of my favourites, Patrick Demarchelier. Another thing was the whole romantic, neutral style of the collection, with long dresses and nice, subtle applications.
